Dr Aaron Ndhluni

MBChB(Hons).FCS(SA)

Dr. Aaron Ndhluni is a compassionate Specialist Breast Surgeon based in Cape Town. With a strong academic background and extensive experience in the field, Dr. Ndhluni is dedicated to providing exceptional care to his patients.

Born in Harare, Dr. Ndhluni completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Zimbabwe, where he graduated with honours (cum laude). Throughout his studies, he excelled in surgery, earning a distinction and was also awarded with the Harry Wulfson Prize for the Best Student in Paediatrics, as well as the Anglo American Award for the best overall candidate.

Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Ndhluni pursued his professional development at Harare Group of Hospitals, where he completed his internship and senior house officer training. Seeking further growth and new challenges, he made his way to Cape Town, joining the Department of Surgery at the renowned University of Cape Town, Groote Schuur Hospital, as a Registrar. It was during this time that his passion for surgery flourished, leading him to become a Fellow of the College of Surgeons of South Africa (FCS (SA)).

Dr. Ndhluni’s career progressed at Groote Schuur Hospital, where he served as a Specialist Surgeon. It was here that his special interest in breast diseases, endocrine surgery, and surgical gastroenterology took root and grew. In 2000, he became a partner at the then Matley and Partners, where he practiced as a General Surgeon until May 2021. Throughout this period, he continued to dedicate his expertise part-time to the Breast and Gastrointestinal Clinics at Groote Schuur Hospital.

Driven by his commitment to excellence and patient-centered care, Dr. Ndhluni worked tirelessly to establish the Breast Disease and Care Unit at Life Kingsbury Hospital in Claremont, Cape Town. In addition to his work in breast diseases, he is actively involved in the Gastrointestinal (GIT) Unit and plays a vital role as a key member of the Vincent Pallotti Oncology Centre of Excellence.

Beyond his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Ndhluni is a Co-Founder of the Breast Interest Group of South Africa (BIGOSA) and The Cape Town Breast Forum. His dedication to multidisciplinary collaboration is evident in his involvement as a key member of the Southern Suburbs Multidisciplinary Breast Oncology Panel. Furthermore, he serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Association of Surgeons of South Africa, contributing to the advancement of surgical expertise in the country. Recently, his outstanding contributions to raising awareness of breast cancer in South Africa were recognized with the Reach for Recovery Award.

While surgery is his calling, Dr. Ndhluni finds joy and fulfillment outside the operating room as a loving husband and father to his three daughters. He is also a budding cyclist and an enthusiastic runner, proudly representing Varsity Old Boys (VOB).
